Last book you read

Post by Briseis on Sat Nov 08, 2008 11:55 pm

Here's a thread dedicated to the last book you've read. Recommend it? Want to warn people not to read it? Have anything else to say?

The last book I read was Brick Lane... for school. It was good... and kinda sad. I think I learned a little bit about Islam by reading it and realized how similar it was to Christianity.

The last book I read voluntarily was How to make people like you (in 90 seconds or less). It was very good, and I'd recommend it to anyone. It has a lot to do with non-verbal communication and unconscious behaviour that affects our everyday interactions with people. Extremely interesting.

Last book I read was also Brick Lane. I enjoyed it.

Voluntarily, I can't even remember. I think I reread Ender's Game because it's awesome.

I think the last book I read was "The Amber Spyglass," being the last book in "His Dark Materials." You know, "The Golden Compass" books.

It was alright.

Ohhh last book I read for fun... Daughter of the Forest. Excellent except for the overly romantic ending. I got so into it.

The last book I read was The English Patient.

It was for English class when I was in college 2 years ago.

Agreed. I am soooo glad we dropped that Modernism Lit class. XD

The last book I read was On Bullshit. Best philosophy text I've ever had to read. XD

I am *trying* to read Full Moon, but it really sucks. I mean, for those of you know know/care/are aware of the Twilight craze... Bella, the main character, is currently VERY distraught her Edward vampire lover has left her. She gets lost in a forest (as a result of being too distraught) and is saved and now she purposely puts herself in danger just so she can hear his voice in her head. What a weak, silly character. And not a very good role model for young girls.

And... I started The Forest House. <3 Marion Zimmer Bradley.

LOL OH GOD. I seriously MUST read the Twilight series, just for the hilariousness of the writing. It's just... so bad.

Brightly Burning by Mercedes Lackey. It was the first book I've read for pleasure in... forever. Love it.

Oh man. I really liked Jane Eyre. I'll take the Bronte sisters over Jane Austen any day.

I don't know about you guys, but I found The English Patient holy-fuck hottttt.

I'm not gay, but I would have totally made sexxy time with pretty much every character.

My last book: Y:Last Man Standing. It's a comic book series, so I don't know if it counts? I think it should be called "Misogyny: The Comic" It's about a plague that kills every man on the planet but one and subsequently how shitty women run the world. You ladies are so craaaaazaaay!

If you want a REAL novel... Shit, what was the last one I finished? Some Ian Flemming one probably. I have a bad habit of starting books and getting distracted.

Right now I'm reading a bunch of dostoevsky, PD James and that sort.

Books are weird and lame and I'm not good at reading them. Not that I'm slow at reading, but I just feel like the time I spend reading could be better spent doing other things.

I want to borrow that comic from my friend. He got it for his birthday.
